There are two things I want to alert you to:

1. The arrangements for the Fleetdown United Under 13’s match on the 4th January 2009. As you may be aware, Matthew played for my team. Rather than marking the events of the 9th, we have agreed with Len & Val, Matthews Parents, that it would be more fitting to mark the anniversary of Matthews last game for Fleetdown United? To this end, we will be holding a minutes applause prior to our match on the 4th January 2009.

The Under 13’s match kicks off at 10:30am and we, along with many of our other teams in other age groups will be marking the applause shortly before the kick-off.

2. A Memorial Plaque. A plaque has been made and is to be erected on the outside wall of the club, facing the new Astroturf pitch, to which Councillor Kite donated £2000.00 last year in Matthews name. The pitch is to become a focus for memorial to many people, who put their time and efforts into the club, and Matthew is the first of a number of plaques to be placed.

We intend to ‘present’ the plaque to Matthews parents after the match on the 4th January 2009. This will be in the Fleetdown United Club House at around 12noon .

UPDATE: If the frosts hit again overnight then the match will be postponed. IN this event we will meet for the Applause and Plaque until 12noon.

Fleetdown United are still looking for a Steward to undertake various duties at weekends to ensure the smooth running of the premises and all matches being played.

The hours are to be agreed, but would likely be from 12noon until approximately 3pm, though some flexibility would be required as match schedules can vary.

Duties would include, but are not limited to:

• Putting out goals for 11-aside pitches (assembly would still be done by the teams)
• Ensure goals are secured at the end of the day
• Ensure 7 aside teams have access to equipment
• Ensuring all premises are secure at all times
• Assign changing rooms to visiting teams
• Providing access to changing rooms for visiting teams and ensuring changing rooms are locked when not in use and when teams are on the field
• Other Duties as advised by the Grounds man
